NAR President Dick Gaylord to Speak at
Local Realtors Networking Breakfast

January 28, 2008 (LONG BEACH, Calif.)— Dick Gaylord, 2008 President of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), will speak at the Long Beach Broker Preview Networking Meeting February 7 at 8:30 a.m. A Realtor® for 30 years, Gaylord is a longtime advocate of organized real estate and will offer his message on “Keys to Unlock the Real Estate Market.”
In a recent e-mail message addressed to NAR’s approximately 900,000 members, Gaylord and Dale Stinton, the organization’s chief executive officer, expressed excitement for a promising year in real estate for all areas. The association has launched a new website to educate and guide potential property owners on the best route to take for their real estate purchases and explains the ownership opportunities available to them, including vacation and investment property. Visit it at http://www.housingmarketfacts.com .
“One of the keys to unlocking the real estate market is educating potential homebuyers,” said Gaylord. “As a Realtor® it is important to understand what is happening in your local market and our industry, to reach out to consumers, so that they understand what opportunities are out there and to help guide them through the transaction. NAR has some great resources to help our members provide the best information and service.”
NAR works to ensure a healthy real estate market and strong communities nationwide. Advocating on behalf of Realtors®, NAR has high aspirations of succeeding in many political areas in 2008.
“Legislation also is key to a healthy market -- and our businesses.  NAR worked with members of Congress to pass important legislation in 2007 that will make financing more affordable, eliminate the tax on forgiven mortgage debt, and keep banks out of the real estate business. Now, we are leading the push to raise the conforming loan limits in high-cost states, as part of an economic stimulus package. We will continue to push lawmakers to pass legislation on other critical issues, like flood insurance, natural disaster relief, and the affordable housing trust fund,” said Gaylord. “I am confident that we will achieve these priorities if we work 'All Together' and get more members involved.”
“Networking groups are especially important during cycles when real estate prices are increasingly affordable,” said Pam Summerfelt, marketing director for International City Escrow. Realtors® learn about new listings and meet other real estate professionals with whom they might do business in the future.
International City Escrow and Bank of America sponsor the Long Beach Broker Preview Networking Meeting which ends with a tour to preview properties to show to potential buyers.
The meeting is 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. every Thursday at Khoury’s Restaurant’s banquet room (110 North Marina Drive, Long Beach). The entrance fee is $2 per person. All real estate professionals are welcome to attend.
